Overview of Sections and Chapters
Members of the Forest Products Society residing in the United States, Canada, or Mexico automatically become members of one of 8 geographic Regions which are further subdivided into 13 Sections. By participating in Section activities, you increase your personal contacts and keep up to date with regional research and industry developments. In some areas, Chapters have been formed to focus more specifically on local needs.
Sections and Chapters operate on the voluntary input and efforts of members who plan and carry out technical meetings, industry tours, and other programs of regional or local interest. Each Section or Chapter holds at least one meeting a year. In addition to planning and conducting meetings and tours in their area, Sections and Chapters may establish student scholarship funds, produce newsletters, and provide a broad array of other services, limited only by the energies and time that volunteering members are willing to devote.
The Forest Products Society also has a number of Student Chapters, established in conjunction with university programs that work closely with the Sections and Chapters in carrying out regional and local activities.
