Bending Tolerance of Veneer Is Related to Its Toughness

Bending tolerance of veneer strips determined on mandrels of different radii of curvature correlated with the veneer toughness measured by impact bending. Thus the simple mandrel-bending test that has shown promise for distinguishing between decay and nondecay fungi–by their comparative effects in the laboratory on bending tolerance–incorporates the elements of both flexibility and toughness.
