Comparison of Linear Expansion Test Methods for Particleboard

Particleboard from ten manufacturing plants in the South and Pacific Northwest were tested for linear expansion using the ASTM and vacuum-pressure-soak (VPS) methods. The results were highly correlated (r = 0.89) and the linear relationship, ASTM = 7.789 (VPS) – 0.126, was obtained. The use of the VPS for routine production checks was suggested.
