Douglas-fir boards were laminated with eight different urea-formaldehyde adhesives, and water-soaked specimens were exposed to cycles of 10? C or -60? to -70? C temperature treatments, followed by drying at 50? C. Wood failure was found not to be useful as a durability criterion for laminated wood intended for use in climates which have extreme low-temperature cycles. Shear strength or degree of delamination proved a more reliable indicator.
