The Market Outlook for Plywood

The consumption of softwood plywood in the year 1975 will be close to 36 billion square feet, 3/8-inch basis. Three developments not considered in previous forecasts are: 1) the emergence of the southern pine plywood industry, 2) the increased awareness of our urban crises with government funding of many houses, and 3) possible competition from particleboard. Owing to increased productivity, there has been over time a downward trend in the average price of plywood.
