Preparation of boxed vehicles for export includes coating parts subject to corrosion, removal of fuel and coolant, removal of projects parts, and providing for proper ventilation in the vehicle. Care must be exercised in designing the package to prevent unnecessary contact between vehicle and pack. The container is usually of nailed lumber. Cement-coated wire nails with blunt points and sinker heads are preferred. The top panel of the pack should be waterproofed. Ventilation must be provided because of possible condensation. The package should be adequately drained. Automotive components are similarly boxed. Much greater attention is directed toward preservation of contents, and to internal blocking and bracing. Shipment of service parts presents similar problems, except that no two packages have identical contents.
