The resistance of plywood to boiling water as a function of melamine/urea ratio, assembly time, moisture, and filler content was studied. Based on four boil cycles, the performance was roughly proportional to the amount of melamine resin used. Even at 10 percent melamine resin extension, fractional boil resistance was obtained and assembly time was found to be non-critical with regard to shear strength.
