A simple method of estimating veneer drying schedules from trial runs has been developed on the assumption that moisture content-drying time curves can be represented by a quadratic equation. Theoretical families of curves, representing a wide range of initial moisture contents and drying rates, can be derived. The validity of these graphs, used for estimating schedules and in quality control work, was determined by comparing predictions with actual drying data. To use this method, green veneer must be separated into batches with similar drying rates.
