A continuous method, involving heat sinks and hot plates, was employed to measure specific heat and thermal conductivity of five flat-pressed particleboards and one extruded board from -43.2? to .9?C. Mean specific gravity of the boards was 0.7 grams per cubic centimeter. Mean moisture content was 8.3 percent. Thermal conductivity (K) in cal./cm. – sec. -?C. was a linear function of temperature (T) in ?C. Specific heat (c) was also a linear function of T. Both K and c showed a positive effect of temperature on conductivity. The latter behavior showed general agreement with the Debye theory for the specific heat of solids.
