2012 Wood Frame Construction Manual (WFCM) Changes

The 2001 Edition of the Wood Frame Construction Man-ual (WFCM) for One- and Two-Family Dwellings (ANSI/AF&PA WFCM-2001) was recently updated. The updat-ed standard designated ANSI/AWC WFCM-2012 was approved November 29, 2011 (Figure 1). The 2012 WFCM was developed by the American Wood Council?s (AWC) Wood Design Standards Committee and is refer-enced in the 2012 International Residential Code (IRC) and 2012 International Building Code (IBC) (ICC 2012a,b).
