Research in forest products can be classified under four broad headings, solid wood, modified wood, fiber products, and chemical conversion and chemical constitutents. Research accomplishments include improvements in joints and fastenings, improved adhesives, stress-skin principle in prefabricated house panels, light-weight paper honeycomb cores for sandwich construction, refinements in kiln-drying, and modified woods.
