The generally recommended composition of Ammonium-copper pentachlorophenolate (ACP-Preservative) for pressure treatment is: sodium pentachlorophenolate, 0.5 percent by weight, copper sulfate, 1.0 percent by weight; potassium or sodium dichromate, 0.5 percent by weight; and ammonium, about 3 percent by weight, in water. ACP-Preservative-treated products have water-repellency characteristics. It has been found that the preservative imparts outstanding wood protection against fungi and has low leachability. It does not weaken the mechanical strength of the wood. Treated products can be painted. The preservative does not react to iron equipment, and lends itself to ordinary pressure-treating techniques.
