A Preliminary Report on Timber Bridge Superstructure Costs

The USDA Forest Service has released a second report on the cost of timber bridge superstructures funded through the Timber Bridge Initiative Program (TBIRC, 1993). The reported costs are comprised of estimated and final costs for the fiscal years 1989 through 1992. The source of estimated and final costs for the fiscal years 1989 through 1992. The source of estimated costs is the Cooperative Funding Worksheet used in the project proposal. The final cost data are from the individual cooperators. Final year (FY) 1992 cost data are included. These data have been very realistic, often exceeding actual costs. Approximately 30% of the data in this report is made up of complete and final costs received from cooperators. These data will change as projects are complete and actual cots replace the estimated costs. Cost variations are not shown, but could be significant in the final analysis of cost differences.
