A Procedure for Quickly Evaluating Dimensional Stability of Particleboard

Describes an accelerated test for measuring the dimensional stability of particleboard and other sheet materials. It is based on the differences in linear and thickness dimensions, a) as received, b) after oven drying, and c) after a vacuum-pressure-soak cycle. The V.P.S. exposure is particularly useful when varying the composition of a board or in evaluating a new product. A good indication of of the stability of the material is available within a day.
