A new magazine, “Adhesives Age”, and American Society for Testing Materials Sub-committee X of Wood Adhesives were formed this year. Fast-setting Eastman No. 910, a cyanoacrylate adhesive, was the only new type glue created, though new combinations of fillers and extenders for existing glues were developed. Equipment innovations include improved glue spreaders and bulk, rubber plywood-glue containers. New markets are requiring low-cost, fast-cure, durable glues and efficient processes for edge- and end-glued lumber, laminated structures, composition board, and overlaid plywood.
