A Proposed Plug Tension Test for Particle Board

A tension test using a 1/2-inch diameter plug to determine internal bond of particleboard is shown to be easier and faster than the conventional 2 by 2 inoh specimen adhered to steel blocks. Statistical methods for relating the plug method to the conventional method are included. A simplified apparatus using router chucks to hold the specimen and easily constructed levers to apply the load make the test an inexpensive control method.
