A technique was developed, using a standard electrical resistance moisture meter (RDX-1, Delmhorst Instrument Co.), permanently installed pins (Lignomat USA Ltd.), and an initial moisture content (MC) determined by weighing, to closely estimate the MC of red oak and yellow-poplar lumber during drying above 30 percent MC. The estimated MCs were within 5 percent MC of the true value for red oak and within 10 percent MC for yellow-poplar.
