Accelerated ambient air-drying involves passing ambient air over wood fuel particles to achieve drying. Sawdust and chips were partially dried from 120 percent MC to 30 percent MC with energy expenditures of 16 to 43 BTUs per pound of water evaporated. This technique holds promise for making wood combustion systems more efficient by predrying fuel prior to its combustion.
