An apparatus was built which, when attached to a woodworking shaper, automatically makes successive edgecuts on panel products up to 1.25 inches thick. Abrasiveness of the product is measured by evaluation of wear incurred by the shaper knife. Machining times of 10 minutes are required to measure abrasiveness of most particleboards.
