The recently derived kinetics for the 2-hour desiccator test was experimentally assessed. The desiccator value was studied as a function of kinetic parameters. Experimental findings were compared with computer-simulated curves for the kinetics. All investigated parameters affected the desiccator value as predicted by the kinetic equations, with the exception of the surface area of water; instead, the circumference of water was found to play a kinetic role in the desiccator test. It was demonstrated that the desiccator value was governed by the circumference and volume of water, the rates of formaldehyde diffusion in the water, and the duration of the test.
