Automation in the Planing Mill

Automation means well developed and meticulously maintained processes, data, information, and standards that enable industry to forecast, measure, control, and predict the scope, direction, and pace of operations. The lumber industry has not kept pace with the level of control and efficiency other industries have attained. Use of automated production control processes; automatic sorting, handling, grading, trimming, and finishing; and statistical correlation of sales to inventory are steps that should be undertaken.
