A sawmill must be planned as a system, designed to produce a specific average daily output from a specific average daily input. It must use a minimum of manpower, have a minimum of downtime, and a minimum of maintenance cost. The only way to achieve these goals is to plan and engineer the sawmill carefully and completely, as a system. An automatic sawing system includes: 1) Sawyer introduces log to saw, then presses automatic sawing button, 2) bandmill drive motor controls speed of sawing by amperage variation, 3) controller unit instantaneously interprets demand from bandmill motor, and 4) voltage control unit varies feed speeds to meet demands of bandmill motor.
