Biodegradability of Pentachlorophenol as a Possible Source of Depletion from Treated Wood

From this experiment with southern pine feeder strips, it appears that biodegradation is not a well-proven primary source of penta depletion from wood treated to retention levels sufficient to kill most microorganisms. The major loss of penta is associated with the carrier through leaching, water displacement, bleeding, or combinations of all these factors.
