The objective of this investigation was to establish a simple functional relationship between plywood MC estimated by the standard ovendry method (y) and direct readings (x) from a resistance-type moisture meter at room temperature. When there is a sufficient number of specimens in a sample with the same moisture-meter reading, where each meter reading designates the mean of eight measurements, the corresponding average OD (“true”) MC can be fairly accurately (.5 units) estimated by the inverted quadratic function = 51.33 – 9.407 30.44-x. Single meter readings, however, should not be converted into ovendry MC by this function.
