Coal tar cresote is shown to be an impressive mixture containing upwards to 160 separate and distinct chemical compounds, all of which when tested individually in wood were found toxic to fungi. When mixed together, the compounds are much more effective than when tested separately. A list of the compounds present in coal tar creosote together with chemical formulas is presented.
