Benquet pine is considered a potential source for gum naval stores in the Philippines. Gum turpentine contained chemicals in the following percentages: alpha pinene 93.6 percent, camphene 1.5 percent, beta pinene 1.1 percent, beta phellandrene 1.5 percent. Gas chromatographic analysis of oleoresin acids as methyl esters showed 31.9 percent levopinaric, 16.3 percent isopimaric, 15.4 percent abietic, 12.7 percent pimaric, 10.3 percent dehydroabietic, and 4.4 percent tetrahydroabietic acids. Gum turpentine yields ranged from 15 to 25 percent of the gum oleoresin.
