Computerized control of complex pressure treatment schedules

A number of new pressure treatment processes have been developed in the past in order to improve the preservative treatment of refractory species. These schedules involve rapid changes between high and low pressure during treatment. Computerized control of the pressure in these processes is desirable for its reliability and accuracy. In the current work, a program is developed to digitize the variant curve of a pulsation schedule and obtain an approximation function. Another program is developed to actually control the pressure in the retort using the approximation function. A computer-retort interface is also described. The simplicity of this system and the minimal requirement of additional equipment suggest that it could easily be adapted to industrial application.
