Laboratory mold and stain evaluation of red oak exposed sapwood showed no increase in fungal development resulting from eradication of the oak wilt fungus by methyl bromide fumigation. Label-recommended concentrations of five commercial fungicides controlled fungus on sapwood to varying degrees with a mixture of methylene bis (thiocyanate) and 2-(thiocyanomethyl) thio benzothiazole providing the best protection. Performance of fungicides was not significantly reduced by prior fumigation.
