Dimension stock and panels at 8 percent moisture content were satisfactorily cross-grain knife planed with segmented helical cutting edges. Cuttings 1 inch by 10 inches long were aligned parallel to a tangent of the helix angle and butted together. The resulting shavings may be used to manufacture a strong and linearly stable particleboard.
