Decay Resistance of Angelique (Dicorynia Quianensis)

Soil-block tests according to ASTM standard D 2017-71 were made to verify the reputed decay resistance of Angelique heartwood. Angelique (Dicorynia guianensis), or basra locus, is commercially imported for marine and land uses requiring both strength and durability. Tests were made using three prominent wood-destroying fungi and specimens from the interior of 20 boards selected from different trees. All board samples showed superior decay resistance.
