Wet-felted oriented fiber sheets developed a much higher tensile strength (at least twice as much) in the direction of fiber orientation than the conventional random sheets when consolidated in the same conditions. The increase in tensile strength from 50 p.s.i. sheet pressure to 300 p.s.i. was 122 percent for oriented and about 100 percent for the random sheets. The oriented sheets also developed a higher density than the random ones.
