Particleboard was sawn at two different feed speeds and sawtooth wear and cut edge roughness were measured as functions of length of saw use. The intent of this work was to determine the effect of feed rate on saw wear and to indicate how particleboard machinability (cut edge roughness) varied with saw wear. The results indicate that when length of board cut is used as the measure of saw use, feed rate had little effect on tooth wear and that cut edge roughness depended not only on the amount of edge wear but also on the magnitude of the wear relative to particle size.
