The purpose of this experiment was to develop a laminated oak beam product utilizing available natural resources of a particular operation in Arkansas. The development work resulted in applying a somewhat new method to laminated beam design. It is hoped that description of this method and the experiment will have some use for future work of this type. The method consists of developing laminating grades based on testing two-ply specimens in bending. The obtained data were used to design small commercial-size laminated oak beams. Properties of the designed beams were verified by testing full-size beams.
