Developments in Applied Drying Technology, 1971-1977

Recent developments in the field of lumber drying are reviewed. Particular attention is given to the continuously rising temperature (CRT) method, drying effort schedule manipulation, and continuous feed dryers. Other topics covered include degrade control, improved process control, low temperature drying, and solar drying. The review indicates a trend toward the development and use of more sophisticated drying techniques and greater awareness of the value of the raw material being processed.
