Following a cost survey at the Red Lion Cabinet Co. plant, several steps were taken to reduce machining costs. By using carbide precision saws the filing time required per saw was reduced so that a savings of $199.80 per saw was made per year, not including the savings earned from better production. Likewise, improvements in precision grinding, design standardization, and tool-room procedures brought about reduced cost. The adoption of precision cutters for moulders and companion grinders was found to cut labor costs and material losses. Future plans include improvement of all profile cutters.
