A series of tests were conducted in large laboratory chambers to compare formaldehyde emission potential from vinyl overlaid and unfinished hardwood plywood surfaces. Small scale desiccator tests were conducted on vinyl overlaid and unfinished plywood surfaces. Two-mil decorative vinyl effectively reduced emissions by 90 percent through the coated surface of the hardwood plywood wall panels tested.
