Evaluation of Floor Finishes

Laboratory test methods for evaluating commercial floor materials suitable for use on maple, beech, and birch floors are summarized. Twelve tests are used to screen such materials to assure adequate product performance and customer satisfaction with the finished floor. Tests described include resistance to liquids, skinning resistance, drying properties, waxing properties, color, non-volatile matter, flash point, hardness, viscosity, elasticity, and abrasion resistance.
