The FAO Conference on Wood Technology is one of the effective units involved in interchange of technical information, encouragement of technical assistance, and unification of research practices to help achieve world-wide comparability of wood technology research results and findings. Subjects discussed at the last meeting of the Conference in 1958 in Madrid, Spain included standardization of test methods for determination of mechanical properties of wood and wood-base materials, structural grading, sawing and machining, and proposal of an international association of wood technologists.
