The conventional test method for the determination of tensile strength perpendicular to the surface (IB) of composites was modified. Each specimen was glued with a fast setting epoxy resin between two sugar maple blocks and connected to the testing machine with two C-12 eye screws. The results from these, and standard procedure tests using matched specimens, were nearly identical.
