Composite lumber stakes, treated to various retentions with chromated copper arsenate (CCA) or ammoniacal copper arsenate (ACA) waterborne preservatives, have performed well in outdoor soil contact exposure for 7 years. Untreated southern pine and Douglas-fir control stakes failed in 2 to 4 years. All treated stakes are in good condition, free of decay and termite attack; no delamination of bonded surfaces has occurred.
