Information is presented on the effect of span-to-depth ratio on the flexural stiffness of two constructions of southern pine plywood tested both with face grain parallel and perpendicular to span. At 48:1 span-to-depth ratio, average percentages of shear deflections at midspan of southern pine plywood with face grain parallel-to-span are 7-5 and 5.1 of total deflections for the 3-ply and 5-ply, respectively. At 14:1 span-to-depth ratio, the percentage of midspan shear deflection of 3-ply plywood with face grain parallel-to-span is slightly greater than deflection caused by pure bending. The moduli of elasticity free of shear effects of 3-ply and 5-ply southern pine plywood with face grain perpendicular-to-span were approximately 8 and 34 percent, respectively, of pure E values corresponding to similar plywood with face grain parallel-to-span.
