Fuel values were determined for stems and branches in two hardwood species, post oak and red maple. A significant difference was found between the higher heating value (HHV) of the stem bark and branch bark of post oak. Otherwise, no difference in HHV was detected due to position in the tree for wood or bark. The wood had a significantly higher HHV when compared to the bark for both species.
