The particleboard industry in Oregon has enjoyed a favorable environment for, growth over the past 15 years through ample and concentrated supplies of low-cost wood residues. However, factors such as particleboard industry expansion, competing demands for residues from other particleboard and pulp mills, extimated reduction of lumber production in Oregon, increased procurement and processing costs of coarse residues, and market competition from other regions, may well affect the future growth of Oregon’s industry. It is estimated that the present growth rate will be curtailed, reaching an estimated level in 1980 of 1.3 billion square feet.
