The heat of combustion was determined for samples of some Northeastern hardwood sawdusts and yellow poplar bark. Oven dry material was wetted to obtain a range of moisture contents up to 100 percent and the gross heat of combustion determined in an oxygen bomb calorimeter. Regression curves BTU’s = e8.98126 – 0.00687 (percent MC) and BTU’s = e 9.09890 – 0.00720 (percent MC) with R. squares of 98.3 and 97.4 were obtained relating gross heat of combustion and moisture content for mixed Northeastern hardwoods and yellow poplar barks respectively.
