High-Pressure Steam Drying: Effects on Permeability

This study was done to compare the gas permeability of white oak, red oak, and yellow-poplar wood subjected to air-drying or kiln-drying, and high-pressure steam drying (HPSD). Falling water displacement measurements of permeability showed a slight increase in permeability of the yellow-poplar sapwood but no effect on the permeability of white oak, red oak, or yellow-poplar heartwood.
