Data on pine sawtimber and pulpwood stumpage prices in Georgia were collected from the Georgia Forestry Commission case files. Statewide sawtimber price trends were calculated, as were northern and southern region pulpwood prices. Real sawtimber prices increased 1.14 percent per year over the last three decades. Real southern Georgia pulpwood prices increased 0.85 percent, and real northern Georgia pulpwood prices declined 0.54 percent per year. Data from the Forestry Commission sales were not significantly different from sales made on national forests in Georgia. Prices reported by Timber Mart South were usually greater than those found based on Forestry Commission data.
