The effect of drying temperature on the performance of two transverse feed, dielectric noncontacting in-line moisture meters was investigated. The two in-line meters included one that operated at a high frequency and one that operated at a low dual frequency. Douglas-fir and lodgepole pine were used as experimental material. The results showed that the maximum dry-bulb temperature reached during drying had only minimal effect on the performance of the in-line meters, thereby making any correction for this factor unnecessary. The results also showed that density was a significant addition to the regression model of each meter, but the improvement in the model as a result of adding density was much more apparent when used with the high-frequency meter.
