In a successful gluing operation, it is necessary to avoid designing a structure which will create inherent stresses due to imbalance. It is important to do all the machining necessary to prepare a satisfactory glue surface, to handle the parts carefully, and to plan the timing of the operation to allow a minimum of time between machining and gluing, and to allow sufficient time for the gluing operation and conditioning. Indiscriminate mixing of species should be avoided. The plant should be free of drafts and sudden temperature changes, with controlled humidity and no dust.
