A number of alternative methods for modeling and interpreting stake test data have been proposed in the literature, but none has gained widespread use by the wood preservation research community. This paper suggests an intuitive and easy-to-use general method, consistent with the intent of the AWPA Standard E3-83. This method is intended to facilitate the use of existing field test data in suggesting retentions for new preservatives, commodities with different service life expectations, and new wood species.
