The existing moisture content (MC) correction tables for the portable, resistance-type moisture meter were found to seriously overestimate the MC of lumber when measured at subzero wood temperatures. The problem was attributed to inappropriate temperature correction factors for frozen wood. This note describes the development of new temperature corrections that reduce the MC estimate by as much as 6 percent MC at wood temperatures of -30?C.
